Meet Tatiana Zvagelski of Hair by Tatiana in Vernon Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Zvagelski.

Tatiana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

From the fourth grade of my school in Russia, I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser. My mom used to do her hair every other day, and after school she would pick me up, and bring me with her.

I was intrigued by watching how hairdressers worked. So, when I finished my high school, I already knew where I’m going. Two years of high education, and I got my diploma!

16 years of experience in Russia.

25 years ago, I moved to United States (thank God!) When I arrived, I did not speak English, friend of mine took me to a very established salon in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I was hired in the spot, by doing owners ‘s hair. After three years there, we moved to Chicago. I tried to work in a Cosmetic Center salon…, could only handle it for one year. 19 years I worked at Niles salon. I had the pleasure to take care of my father, who then passed away. So, I started renting a chair in an established salon in Vernon Hills! I am very pleased to work in a healthy environment! Never owned my place in United States.

I’m learning, as I go. Trying to make baby steps. I know how to work with hair, and I love it! I am absolute workaholic! But I never had to take care of it, as a business…

(And, oh boy, did I learn it!) Well, it’s third year, I’m on my own, and still learning!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hair by Tatiana – what should we know?

I love to do haircuts. Clients from my previous business travel from everywhere, pretty long distance, and I really appreciate that!

I love to do my highlights, and colors.

My big mantra is:

First welfare of the hair, and then- the beauty of the hair!

I always educate myself, and pass it to my clients!

I’m always hungry to learn.

I belong to international hairdresser’s clubs, and websites. We learn and teach there!

I care for my clients. I always make sure the product they get, is a top notch, for the needs of their hair. I really always enjoy working with the clients!
