Yes, this technique may look cool, get views, and create a lot of engagement—but as professionals, we also need to look beyond the immediate result and think about the long-term health of the client’s hair. It is crucial to recognize that while the visual appeal of a trendy hairstyle can attract attention, the underlying health of the hair should be our primary concern. Watch closely: the hair is lightened, then the base color is put back in, the roots are blurred, and later the hair may be lightened again. This cycle of lightening and recoloring can create a visually stunning effect, but it often leads to a repetitive process that can be damaging. After the initial lightening, the roots are blurred to create a seamless transition, and then the base color is reapplied to maintain a balanced look. However, this can become an endless cycle of coloring and lightening that, while visually appealing, may not be sustainable for the hair’s health.

Over time, the hair can become dull, the color can fade unevenly, and the texture can become compromised due to the repeated chemical processes involved. The more often the hair is subjected to these harsh treatments, the more likely it is to lose its natural luster and strength. Maintaining or correcting the work can become extremely difficult, leading to frustration for both the stylist and the client. Most importantly, the client may not fully understand where this process is eventually going or how much maintenance it will require. It is essential for us as stylists to communicate clearly with our clients about the implications of such techniques.
Today, it seems that this type of technique has become a trend or a fad, capturing the attention of social media and influencing countless individuals to seek out similar looks. But trends come and go, and what is in vogue today may not be suitable for the long-term health of the hair.
Healthy hair should always come first. We must prioritize the well-being of our clients’ hair above all else. When the hair is repeatedly lightened and processed, it may eventually lose its strength and ability to hold color properly. In some cases, clients may turn to extensions simply because their natural hair can no longer maintain the desired look or length, leading to further complications and costs. As hairstylists, our goal should be to create beautiful results that not only satisfy our clients' immediate desires but also protect the integrity of the hair. We want our clients to stay in our chairs for years—not just for one impressive transformation that may lead to regret later on.
Therefore, before following the latest trend or hype, ask yourself: Is this beautiful today—but will it still be healthy tomorrow? Hair health is never out of style. It is our responsibility to educate our clients about the importance of maintaining healthy hair, guiding them toward choices that will not only enhance their appearance but also ensure that their hair remains vibrant and strong over time. By fostering a deeper understanding of the balance between aesthetics and health, we can help our clients achieve lasting beauty that transcends fleeting trends. ❤️✂️
